Team essentials for British Riding Club Qualifiers and Championships
As part of Area 9 we are invited to enter teams and individuals in various competitions. These are both Area Championships and Qualifiers for the British Riding Club Championships.
What does it take to be part of a team?
- You must be a full Bath Riding Club Member
- You must be able to safely, and confidently compete at the level/class you wish to participate in
- Commitment: once we have put pre-entries in, under BRC rules we are committed to pay the full entry fee, so if you find you cannot compete and we cannot find a reserve, you will have to still pay the entry fee—sorry!
- Patience: often qualifiers are all day affairs, so be prepared for long hours at an event. We won’t always be given “agreeable” times so when you put yourself forward block out the entire day for your competition, especially with popular classes such as novice show jumping or horse trials.
- HELP: Support the running of the event by volunteering. This may involve being part of the arena party, a collection ring steward, show jump scoring or fence judging.
Team essentials for British Riding Club Qualifiers and Championships
- Qualifiers are open to all full Bath Riding Club Members
- When putting your name forward for a team, please state whether you will attend the Championships should you qualify:
- To ensure all Team Members get the opportunity to represent the Club at the Championships, teams will be put together based on those who can/want to attend the Championships and those who do not.
- This is to ensure we comply with the BRC ruling, which states that at least 50% of the original qualifying team must be present in order for you to attend the Championships.
- Organising our teams in this manner ensures all members get the opportunity to represent the club, and those who wish to attend Championships are not left disappointed.
- If you have stated that you wish to be part of the Team aiming to achieve Championship qualification, please be prepared to travel (this may be as far as Lincoln) and make sure you are available on the date of the Championships (this will be available on the BRC Area 9 Website, and will be shared with you via our Social Media platforms)
- Your horses passport and vaccinations must be correct and up to date (see vaccinations page for more details)
- You are responsible for ensuring you and your horse are eligible for the class you wish to enter
- If successful and competing at the Championships, you will be responsible for stabling fees (if required) and transport.
